This is our latest Quilt design, Rainy Day. I just love it! I am going to try to steal it for myself to hang on the wall in my daughters room. It is mostly applique, with only pieced borders to add a little scrappy fun. The finished quilt is 48″ X 60″, perfect for a little ones bed or to hang as I want to do. We used the Apliquick tools and machine applique for this quilt, check out our tutorial if you would like to give them a try. Remember April showers bring May flowers!
I am always excited to see the new Quiltmania Special Children Magazine when it comes out each year! We especially love all things for kids and so its always a fave. This year is the 2nd year in a row that we have had one of our original designs featured in it, so its a little extra special! It has just started showing up in the U.S. stores, so look out for one, they always sell out quickly. Our quilt Sleepytime is included alongside 19 other adorable projects. I like them all, but there is a quilt called “I Spy” by Trish Harper that is my very favorite, its pictured below.
I have to admit, I get on quilt “kicks”. I find a pattern or block, I like and I will make quilt after quilt with a similar design, than I am on to the next one. Right now, I am totally on a Hexie Kick! This latest baby quilt “Honey Bunny” is part of my recent Half Hexie obsession. What do you think? I absolutely adore all of the fabrics in this quilt, especially the floral garden backing!! I actually made two of these at the same time because they were so quick and I needed one to take home right away. This is a great beginner’s project, and you can easily machine quilt it yourself on any machine. If you want some too, we have it all put up in a kit with all of the exact fabrics and our acrylic template. Believe me, you will probably make two also. The quilt is about 40″ X 40″ when finished and will become a “woobie” for whatever little is lucky enough to receive it.

This is our Sunny Chevron Quilt. I really loved making this and it was super simple. Our pattern is written for a small Throw size as shown in our picture or a Queen size if you would like a larger version. The design works with a number of fabric choices, but we opted for a white background and a mixture of several Riley Blake Collections. We use this pattern for some of our Beginning Quilting classes and some of our students have made this with a Black Background, the results were also wonderful. This pattern is VERY Beginner friendly, so don’t be nervous, just get stitching!
A PDF pattern is available for purchase for just $5:

We have had several calls and emails with questions on how to get your points to line up on our Try, Tri Again quilt featured in the current Spring issue of Quilts and More. So we decided to show you how easy it is, by just making sure you have “dog ears” on all of your points. Click the link below to see our super simple (mostly pictures ) tutorial.
I had an absolute blast making this quilt for my son Ronan! Picking and collecting fabrics that I knew he would love was so much fun. He loves to pick out the animals, veggies, cars and especially the potty I added to the quilt. I love that this quilt is educational, but I also am thrilled with the simple modern aesthetic, and it matches his room perfectly. I used Riley Blake’s “Pewter” solid as my background, but that can be easily changed to white, pink, navy, green, or whatever color will match your little one’s room, or let them pick their favorite color. You will be able to finish this quilt in no time at all and it is simple enough for any beginner to make it. Plus we are giving you the pattern for free!!
