ROW ALONG with us in 2018!

11277 Hamilton White F'17Most of you already know we have a newly released book with C & T Publishing called Quilting Row by Row.  The book is inspired by a class we did a few years back, where we made the beautiful row quilt pictured above, one row a month. At first the quilt might look a little daunting , but if you tackle it a month at a time, a row at a time, it becomes much more do-able. You know the saying: How do you eat an Elephant? One bite at a time. Its just like that!

We will work one row at a time starting with the easiest and working our way up to the harder ones. You will learn a new fabulous quilting technique, that you will be pretty great at by the end of each row. And at the end of the year, you will have finished your own version of the beautiful quilt above. We know you want to make one! So make one with us! Come one come all, beginners and intermediates can quilt along.

So lets do it! Join our ONLINE ROW ALONG starting in January. We will be posting the row for you to work on, extra tips for each row, plus most months will have a bonus free pattern that you can make once you have mastered the technique for that month. And of course we will also have some GIVEAWAYS for those of you quilting along with us, because hey, we all love to win a quilty prize, right?

Who’s excited for 2018!?

Stay tuned for our Getting Started Post at the end of December and than the first Thursday of every month we will be posting that months Row. Make sure to get a copy of our book from us or at your LQS, its the main thing you will need and fabric of course. We have a few kits left, pick up fabric from your fave shop, or use up some of that stash.

Start a group and Row Along together, or get going on your own, either way it will be a blast!

Cheese

This is one of my very favorite quilts that I have ever made and just happens to be one of the easiest and quickest to finish. I even did the machine quilting myself on my regular Pfaff machine. It was featured years ago in the Better Homes & Gardens magazine Quilts and More but since it is now retired from that, I have decided to add it to our Free patterns. It is a great go to quilt when you have a beautiful collection of fabrics that hold their own and you don’t want to chop them up to much. Or if you just want to showcase some favorite prints together. This quilt is a combo of designs I loved from 3 of my favorite fabric companies, Adornit, Riley Blake & Alexander Henry. I hope you enjoy the pattern and make one or a few. I’m planning on starting one with the Everyday Eden Fabrics combined with some other faves from my stash. We also have a tutorial to help with achieving perfect points  on your triangles.

Enjoy!

Clover Mini Iron

iron

We have been waiting & waiting for this New little wedge Iron from Clover and are SO happy its finally here! They had an earlier version years ago, that we LOVED and it was discontinued, and it was impossible to find a replacement that we liked as much.  But finally they came out with this new version, that is lighter, easier to hold, has a pointier tip, and gets hotter on the high setting. We use this iron for our Machine Applique method, which requires a tiny pointy iron point, but I also love to keep it handy on a mini press board right next to my machine.  This is a new gadget that you will use & use! It is one of our favorite new tools!!

Busy Birds

thebirds5

This is one of our latest designs inspired by our Row Quilt. Its called Busy Birds, we are really loving it, but were curious to see what you all think? The birds are paper pieced, and the simple to make pinwheels are 3 dimensional. The finished size is 51″ X 51″. The PDF pattern and kits are available now through the links below. I especially love the striped binding, and we found the most perfect fabric from the Bloom & Bliss collection to use as the backing.

Bloom & Bliss Fabrics

We love everything about these fabrics from Nadra Ridgeway for Riley Blake. We have followed Nadra on Instagram for a while (she is @ellisandhiggs) and were excited to hear she had designed a fabric collection. Once we got our hands on it, it totally matched up with the fabulous fabrics we had envisioned in our minds. Blooms & Bliss has lots of colorful, fresh small prints that we are always wanting. Today we chopped a bunch of it up, and we cant wait to show you what we are making…

We have put together Fat Quarter Sets & Half Yard Bundles of our favorites from the collection as pictured above. Click here to shop for some.
