Just In! Chubby Chicks

We just hung this new quilt in the shop called Chubby Chicks. The pattern is by Black Mountain quilts, we have made a million of Teri’s designs, we just love her! We finished up kits this weekend, but also sell just the pattern . The applique is done using our Machine Applique method. What do you think?

This week at the shop:

This weeks Wednesday Free Demo is on Fantastic Pom Poms! It is free, super fun and at 2:00 pm.

There are 2 classes starting that still have a little bit of room. Wednesday evening is our Machine Applique class (technique used above). Favorite Fabric Friday: Griffith Park

This week I am dying over the Griffith Park fabrics from Alexander Henry. My very favorite it the Mums, they are simply stunning! There is a ton of new items in the shop. We are working like busy bees trying to get ready for spring. Speaking of Spring,  we finally have the pattern in for the beautiful little girls dress of the same name. Enjoy your weekend, it is nothing like spring around here, it is currently snowing like crazy, so I will be inside. Hopefully I can start getting the room fixed up for a certain little baby that will be coming soon.

Perfect Pinwheels!

Perfect Pinwheels is a new quilt in the shop, that is very beginner friendly. We get perfect pinwheels by using Thangles to make our half square triangle. They are one of our very favorite tools! We are doing a demo on how to do Thangles at the shop today, Wednesday, at 2:00 pm. If you are too far to come and see us, I will be posting an online version of the demo very soon. I love the simplicity of this quilt!

Pink Tiny Tunic

This little pink tunic is just perfect for spring! If only it would just arrive! This is a super simple pattern that most beginner knitters could make. Make it with any sport weight cotton yarn, the pattern can be found in the Debbie Bliss Magazine: Spring/Summer edition. We just love the simplicity of this style! The pattern is sized from 3 months up to 24 months.

Best Book: Sewing Green

I thought this was an appropriate book to feature for St Patrick’s Day! I hope you are wearing your green! This sewing green is all about the environment instead of the color.  Betz White is the designer behind this book and if you haven’t ever been to her blog, you are seriously missing out. There are 25 different projects with patterns inside that can all be made with re-purposed materials.  There are tons of home items, great tote bags, quilts, and wearable items like aprons and scarves.   I have had the baby quilt below on my to do list for a while. How can we ever get everything made when there are too many fabulous ideas!!?? Every time I hear someone say they are bored I want to give them a smack!

Favorite Fabric Friday: Spring Street

This is my very favorite fabric right now! I want to hop on the little red bike and enjoy the day. This is one of the fabrics from Spring Street a lovely collection that is in the shop. I went to bed last night and was not sure what to do with it and woke up this morning with the quilt all set in my head, I can’t wait to start working on it this weekend.

On the Docket: Weekend Beret

Yesterday I started a new knitting project and did some babysitting, hence the crocodile about to consume my stitches. The pattern is called Insou and is a free Berroco pattern that you can download for yourself here, or stop by the shop and pick one up. We received some of the yarn it is made from called Weekend and I had to start my very own in pink. I love knitting cables, so it has been really a treat. I probably will need a little help with the flowers because crochet is not really my forte, but they are a necessary addition. What do you think ?

Aunt Millie’s Block #3 & Free Demo’s

Here is our Aunt Millie’s Block #3 for those of you following along with this quilt. So stunning as usual, I especially love the purple Amy Butler fabric used this time on the flowers.
