Favorite Fabric Friday: Gray Bear Essential

We are still working busily on our new website, trying to stock it with everything from our shop. I am working on adding some fabrics today, primarily backgrounds. It got me thinking… I never pick a background for a favorite fabric, even though I use them constantly. If you are an applique lover like all us Pipers girls , backgrounds are your best friend. We need to remedy this right away, so, I am picking one today. The fabric above is my new favorite background. Many of our customers in the shop agree, as we are on our 4th bolt and it has only been out for a few months.. The fabric is the a gray and creamy white from P& B’s Bear Essential line. I think it is stunning! Gray is color that is often missing from many fabric lines, which is too bad, because it works well with everything. I Love it!!

P.S. For all of you locals, we are going to be open this Monday, the MLK Holiday from 12-5. If you get the day off from your job, come and pay us a little visit.

I am lucky because: I am going to be a mom!

Just a little personal sharing, I am very excited to announce that I am going to be a mom for the first time this summer. This is our most recent ultrasound from a few weeks ago where we found out it is a Boy! Jeanette is double excited because she is getting two grandchildren a few weeks apart. My sister-in-law Shannon is also having a baby about the same time. Shannon is also the mom of Piper, who has become a little famous on our blog. I am sure this new little guy will be an inspiration for some new fantastic display items in the shop right away. We tend to be a little more biased to girls items around here, I think he may put a stop to that.

Aunt Millie’s #1

We are beginning our Aunt Millie’s Block of the Month today. This is our first block above, seriously, I cannot get enough of this quilt! I think it is my very favorite of all time! There is still a little bit of room in the classes that take place once a month, so call us quick if you want to come. There are the first Friday & Saturday of every month from 3-5. If you are too far to make it, don’t despair, you can get the BOM’s through our website. The pattern is sold separately as one set, and then each month we will offer a fabric block kit, we will also have a finishing kit at the end of the year. Love it!

Free Pattern: Romantic Ruffle Scarf

We are loving the beauty and simplicity of this scarf! We are offering the pattern as a freebie for you! This is a scarf that will knit up pretty quickly as you watch your favorite movie. Wear it around and every one will ask where it came from. We used a beautiful french yarn called Songe, but there anything with a similar gauge will do. You will need 2 balls, some needles and off you go! Enjoy!

Sneak Peak: Spring Dress

If this doesn’t get you excited for warm weather, I don’t know what will! We are dying over this stunning little girls dress that has shown up at the shop. The pattern is a Piper’s original and will be available in about a week, as well as we will be offering a class sometime in April (TBA). Combine your knitting skills with a little bit of embroidery, some crochet and a little sewing and you can make this little stunner!!
