Favorite Fabric Friday: Trees

Okay, I am a little behind schedule and it is actually Saturday, but what the heck. This fabric is really one of my all time favorites in my stash at home. I have a ton of it and have used a little bit here and there, but I am saving the bulk of it for just the right project. I am not sure what that is yet, but I am sure I will know it when I see it. This is a Japanese fabric from Yuwa. The fabric was already unavailable when I spotted it at Quilt Market a few years ago. The fabric was being used as a back-drop on the Yuwa booth. After days of relentless begging and pleading to purchase it, the Yuwa staff gave it to me!!! I was beyond thrilled, to say the least. I used a little bit of it last year to make some frames of fabric to hang in my kitchen. They sell the frames at Ikea. It litterally takes minutes to make them, and I think they are a fabulous addition to any room! A great way to use some of your stash favorites!

Best Book: Sweet Needle Felts

We are totally obsessed with Needle Felting around here!  It is a super easy technique where you work wool roving into 3-d items or as a design into a wool background. The possibilities are endless! Sweet Needle Felts is the best book that I have found that shows you the many different ways that you can use needle felting. All of the patterns are fantastic and there are pages of photo instructions on the how to of it all. I really want to make the adorable little dog on wheels below, but make a little Bichon like my Henry. If you are looking fro something new to spice up your crafting, give this a try!

Loved!: Craft Lake City

This Saturday I spent the entire day at Craft Lake City. Piper’s was a sponsor and we had a booth selling and representing the best of the shop. I have to admit that I spent a lot of my time that I should have been on the clock shopping and checking out everyone elses booths. Overall, I was very impressed with this event, and I think it will just keep improving year after year. The event organizers from Slug magazine ran a well oiled machine, and everyone was as friendly and helpful as can be. Although I have no idea of the actual amount of attendees, the turnout seemed fantastic. If you make any sort of amazing hand- made wares, I would highly suggest getting a booth at this event next year. Anyhoo, back to the shopping. I purchased lots of must have items. Baby showers gifts, matching dog collars for my two boys, felted flowers, headbands and much more. Here are a few pics from just some of my many favorite artists.
