Quick Tip: Do you shim?

This is a great little sewing machine tip that will save you money on thread as well as the time cleaning it up. It is called a sewing shim. Basically keep some little tiny scraps of fabric by your machine at all times, and whenever you are finished piecing sew the shim into your machine and just leave it there. This way you don’t have to pull out a chunk of thread and cut. When you are ready to sew again, just add your next quilt piece and then save the shim again for when you are finished. It is a simple little maneuver that saves money, time and makes your sewing floor a lot cleaner!
