Last week Jeanette and I took Piper to Nordstroms. We mostly go there for the shoes, in case you do not already know, they have the best shoe department in the Universe! As we tried on potential new additions to our spring wardrobe, Piper insisted on trying them all on too. She would have a little moment (a tiny tantrum) anytime we tried a shoe on and it was not handed to her immediately after wards. Apparently she has inherited the shoe gene from her mother’s side of the family. Sometimes after the shoe was on her foot she would clap. I feel like doing the same thing sometimes! Ahhh Shoes!

Fabulous Ruffle Purse
Jeanette just finished this wondeful ruffle purse over the weekend from one of the new Izzy & Ivy patterns that we previewed last week, it is called Penelope Ruffles . She was super impressed with the pattern and check out the organizer pockets for your cell phone and stuff that you can add to the inside!
P.S. Check out this wonderful article from the Wall Street Journal! My friend posted it on Facebook and I just love the idea of it! I can just picture a sewing circle or stitch n bitch at the local truck stop!

Double Rulers
Just another quick tip that you may or my not already use. Many times when you are rotary cutting for a quilt, your fabric is larger than the rulers that you may have. Whenever I encounter this, I double up rulers as shown above. I have yet been able to find a ruler that is as wide and as long as I need it to be. You can fold your fabric up as well, but then your cut becomes less accurate. Next time try using the double ruler technique, let me know what you think.

I am Lucky Because… I have amazing friends.
I started writing these, I am lucky because posts, to remind myself how great my life is. I still have a lot of hard stuff that goes on, but I really try to focus on the positive. When you start looking, it is amazing how many things that you can find to be thankful for. If you don’t already do this, you should try it, I promise you will be glad that you did.
One of my best friends Sascha is getting married in this weekend. So a bunch of my lady friends decided to have a bachlorette weekend for her. We went to Sonoma, California for 3 days. It was absolutely amazing and much needed. Any vacation is a great one, but there is something about spending time with great women that makes it extra special. Suddenly we all turned into 12 year old girls giggling until we couldn’t breathe! The picture above is only part of the crew as we started out on our own bike tour of several of the local wineries. I definitely recommend you take a weekend with the ladies if you haven’t lately, it should be required.
Sneak Peak & Giveaway
I started and finished this quilt over the weekend. I guess the new found warmth that has shown up in our weather inspired me because it is pretty bright. I am really in love with the colors! I am sending it off to be machine quilted and cannot wait to get it back. I ended up with more leftovers than I thought, so I decided to give them away to someone else. These scraps are too fabulous to get shoved into my scrap bin. So just comment on this post and I will choose someone randomly in about a week. Enjoy your day!
Just In: Izzy & Ivy
We just received the full line of patterns from Izzy & Ivy designs. They are local designers, and everything is so fresh and adorable. These are just a few of my favorites, but there is a lot more in the shop. Jeanette us almost finished with the Macy Giggles dress shown below that will be on display just in time for spring! You will love the broad size range, the dress pattern is sized from 2T to a 14!
