See You in 2010!

So, we are taking another small break at the shop for the next few days. We will be closed from New Years Eve through Monday January 4th. We will re-open as normal on Tursday, January 5th. It may seem like we are goofing off, but we are actually getting a lot done for the shop. We have been busy as bees working on new displays that will all be in the shop by mid January, a few may show up next week, so it is definitely worth swinging by. We also have a new class schedule coming out next week, that we have been putting the final touches on. And the most exciting is FINALLY, our new and improved website will be up and running! The pictures above are from some design work I have been doing for the site. It is very exciting! So hopefully all of this will lead to a wonderful busy and creative New Year! We will see you in 2010!!!

Happy Holidays!

I hope you all have a wonderful Holiday and enjoy some quality time with family and friends!

The shop will be open today, Wednesday the 23rd until 7PM. Then we will be closing up for our Holiday break. We are closed starting on Christmas Eve through Monday December 28th. We will be open again on Tuesday the 29th, and knitting will take place as usual that evening at 5:30.

I stayed up all night last night and finished all of my decorating, wrapping, handmade gift making, and then scoured my whole house top to bottom. I am a bit groggy today but so glad that I got everything all finished. Now I can spend the five days relaxing, oh and eating. Merry Christmas!

The Merry Christmas Image above is my Christmas card that I purchased from a local etsy seller called Sycamore Press . All of their cards are absolutely fabulous!!!

Cookie Party!

We started off all of the major holiday festivities that will continue this week, last night, with our cookie party. We all got together and made as many cookies as we could until we were so sugar sick we could not take it any more. The picture above is only a tiny portion of our end product. Needless to say I left with about 300 cookies and I am not exaggerating one bit. There were many wonderful recipes, but I will share with you my very favorite. I found it on the food network website and I will be definitely making it again,  Hazelnut Chocolate Chip Cookies.

New This Week!

Have you seen all of the fabulous new Heather Bailey patterns that are coming out? We have been impatiently waiting for them here at the shop. We will have to learn to be a little more patient, because most of them will not be available for another month! But, we did just receive one of them, the Smarty Girl Book Bag. I am going to try and whip a few of these out this weekend for last minute Christmas gifts for some of my girlfriends. As always, it is just adorable. We also had a few new books show up yesterday and the one below was my very favorite. It is called Felting for Baby by Saori Yamazaki. It is chock full of projects as cute as the baby shoes on the cover. Everything is done with needle felting, one of our new favorite pastimes around here. We are planning to teach the booties shown on the cover in a class in January. Stay tuned for the new class schedule that comes out after Christmas.

I don’t know about you but I have put off way too much of my holiday preperations for the last minute. I am gettting a little worried, especially since there seems to be so many festivities to attend from now until the big day. Breathe, okay, you will make it. Anyway, holiday prep is not real stress, I am lucky to be able to worry about such things. Enjoy your weekend!

End of Year Clearance Sale!!

It has become a tradition at Piper’s to have a giant sale every year right before Christmas. Formerly it was called the “Midnight Madness” Sale and would be for one day, and we would stay open until midnight. Tiny Treasure: Blue Bird Paper Weight

I am not  sure where this little guy came  from, but he has been sitting in my sewing room for years. He watches me work, and never seems to change locations. He is a calm constant in an otherwise very chaotic room. I am not really a bird lover, in fact I don’t particularly like them. But there is something about this tiny treasure makes me happy, ao for now he will stick around.

Favorite Fabric Friday

We just received another order from our favorites Lecien fabrics. Yet again they are too wonderful for words! I am so in love with this print, and I cannot decide which color way that I love more, Pink or Blue. Can you decide? They are both from a collection of fabric called Grandmothers Flower Garden by Rosalie Quinlan. We received almost all of the collection. Just fabulous!!!

Quick to make Gift #2: Fabulous Felt Stocking

Back by popular demand from last year are our fabulous felt stockings!  Make some holiday decor for your friends and loved ones with our kits. Or better yet, have a stocking get together and everyone can make their own while you get to enjoy each anothers company. Our kits have been made almost too easy for you! Everything is pre-cut, the stocking, all of the flowers and shapes, plus the shapes have Heat n Bond already adhered! So you can just stitch a little, press a little and voila! You have an adorable new stocking!!! The wool felt is super high quality(70% real wool& 30% rayon), not the thin junky stuff. The floral stocking featured above is the #1 seller, but I think they are all fab.

Free Pattern: His Hat

I will be sharing with you some wonderful patterns and ideas for gifts that you can still get done in time for Christmas. Actually, they are so quick that you could even procrastinate a little more and still have them finished in time. His Hat is a great beanie style hat for any guy in your life. I am making one for my dad, but it was originally designed by Shannon for her husband. You can easily size it larger if needed. The pattern is a freebie from us to you! We used Karabella’s Aurora 8 Merino Wool yarn, but any worsted weight should do.

I am Lucky Because… of my Mondays with Piper

I am very lucky to have my Mondays. Instead of rushing to work and keeping up with all the weeks busy activities , I get to be a stay at home mom for just one day. Actually a stay at home Aunt, but it seems just as rewarding. I watch my niece Piper on Mondays and we have the best time! She forces me to slow down and laugh a lot. Last week we went to the zoo(as seen above). Besides a little scary Gorilla experiece, the day was absolutely wonderful. This week we did a little Christmas shopping at Nordstroms with her Grandma and had a ladies lunch. We are very lucky indeed!
