Jumper Class

Polka Dot Jumper

This is the fabulous new jumper that we are doing a class on. We are finishing up the patter, so that will be available right away as well. It is so easy, and is all one piece! If you want in on the class there is still a tiny bit of room for the one on Wednesday March 18th ( it is an afternoon class) and we are adding another class for april as well. You will leave with the dress complete! Jeanette made this one in our new cotton canvas fabric from Japan. I wish it came bigger, I would totally wear one.

New Softies & Silkies

Minky

We received boxes and boxes of new minky fabrics today and also some wonderful satin fabrics. The baby ideas are coming in and out of our brains so quickly, we need a breather. This is only a small representation of some of my favorites. Jeanette was so excited she stayed up all night making baby hats and scarves from the giraffe print.

Book Review: Baby Love

Baby Love

Baby Love is a wonderful new book from Plaids & Prints! It is full of baby quilts as well as some asccessories that make great shower gifts. I am working on severel projects from this book, and I love how quick many of them are (more than half of the quilts could be finished in an afternoon!). Buy this book from us and we will ship it to you for free!

Posies
This adorable “Rosebuds” quilt is so soft & chic!
Sailboats
I am such a sucker for sailboats, and I love the fish. These two quilts are my favorites and probably the most complicated projects in the book, and they are easy!

Easter Preview

Easter Eggs

We are busy working on a batch of new displays for the shop for spring. I thought I would give you a preview and a chance to pre-order a kit for this darling Eggs on Parade wall hanging. The colors are so lovely you just want to eat it! Jeanette made this display with all hand dyed wools and a bit of embroidery and beads to embellish it(The kit includes all of the hand dyed wools, pattern & beads). I shot a few close ups so you can see the detail. Maybe all of these spring projects will bring some spring like weather! You may also order a pattern only from us.

Happy Birthday to me!

Flowers

Today is my birthday. My sister-in law made me this amazing quilt. It was such a surprise, I had no idea that she was making it. I just love it!!!! The color combinations are so great and just what I would have picked for myself. I think it is a Buggy Barn pattern but I am not sure which book that it came from. My favorite block is the one below.

Favorite Flower

She also put this wonderful label on the back which reminds me why labels are so wonderful and important. The  label adds such a wonderful personal touch to the quilt. It also allows future generations to know the great stories that go along with quilts. I remember going to one of my very first quilt shows and absolutely falling in love with a grandmother’s flower garden quilt that was on display. Many of the quilts had storieas attatched about the women who had made them and this quilt just said: ” maker unknown”. For some reason it made me so very sad. So make sure to put labels on your quilt. If it is a gift it will mean the world to the receiver and it leaves the future a memory of you.

New Botanica Fabrics

img029

Art Gallery has done it again with their beautiful Botanica collection. It has just arrived at the shop and I can’t keep my hands off it! Above is a block that is actually one of my mistakes, using some of the collection. I am working on a paper pieced pattern that I will be free on the blog. Stay tuned, I hope to have it up by early next week.

Nearly Insane

Nearly Insane Block

A few years ago we had a Nearly Insane group at the shop that was working on the quilt by the same name by Liz Lois. We are hoping to re-visit this quilt and finally get it finished to display in the shop. If you do not know about Nearly Insane, it is similar to the “Dear Jane” quilt. There are a few basic blocks but many are very challenging, like the one pictured above( It is 6″ finished). The books instructions are purely paper piecing, but we used a few other methods to make many of ours. I know there are many of you out there still working on this! I started a Flickr group today for Nearly Insane ( I was really surprised that there was not one already!). I hope that some of you will share what you have made so far and be inspired to pick this up again. There are 96 blocks total. As if your life wasn’t insane enough!
