Yay Jay!

I am sure a lot of you watch Project Runway. I LOVE it, this last season was a little disappointing, but never the less I watch it religiously. So my favorite person ever is Jay. I loved his designs and I loved that he was a quilter/crafter as well as fashion designer and how much it influenced his designs. So I was so excited to find out that he has designed a line of fabric for Free Spirit Fabrics. It is called Garden friends and reminds me of the wonderful japanese prints. The one above is my very favorite and I cannot wait until it is here(2 weeks from today, I called to check on the order today because I am so jazzed).

Style: New Chairs

I never get in any trouble at my house for my massive fabric and yarn collections. This is because my husband puts my collecting to shame. He is into collecting all sorts of things and most of them are much larger and take up more space than any of my collections. One of his most extensive collections is of chairs, especially mid-century designers. He worked on re-finishing these Selig chairs over the summer, so I wanted to help him out by making the cushions. With so many fabrics to choose from, it took months to decide. Voila! Finally they are finished and I am so thrilled with the results. I picked a fabric from the shop that is part of Ana Maria Horner’s collection Drawing Room . What do you think?

On Our Porch: Charming Tulips

tulips

Hanging on our porch right now is this wonderful quilt that Jeanette made with her machine applique method. The pattern is called Charming Tulips and is by Late Bloomer Quilts one of our favorite designers. We are retiring this quilt soon as it does not fit with the season soon. But for now it is still fitting as today the weather was as lovely as a Spring day. We have sold all of the kits for this quilt, but still have the pattern and the charm square packs that make up the center of the quilt. Follow the link below if you would like to order a set of these two items.

We received our first shipment of Heather Bailey’s new patterns yesterday. I am so excited to jump into making some of them this weekend. I have already started cutting out for the pin cushions! We are carrying her full line of patterns and I am sure you want to make them all as much as I do. Here is a sneak peak of two of the six patterns.

Finally At Home

maryellen2

Finally, I have taken my Mary Ellens quilt home. I am so glad, but need to figure out a place to put it, maybe I can make some room for it to hang in my studio, which walls are very crowded right now. For many of you this quilt is old new, but I figured I better put a picture up for those who have never seen it. This quilt was designed by Jeanette & I for Better Homes and Gardens for our Quilt Sampler pattern. We each made a different color version of the quilt and this was mine. It is my favorite quilt I have ever made. We still have a few copies of the magazine at the shop with the pattern for anybody who is interested. Maybe it will inspire you to work work with wool. Wool applique is so easy and the colors are so vibrant and beautiful. Below is one of my latest wool applique projects, this is from the border. Hopefully I can have it finished in the next week and show you.

Viper’s Quilts & Comforts?

vipers

A while back all of us ladies at Piper’s were treating ourselves to a manicure. The manicurist asked where we worked and we told her and she said ” It’s called Viper’s Quilts”?. No, no Pipers, we told her, but we all thought it was pretty funny and joke about all of the time, ever since then. So when I saw this on one of my favorite blogs, I had to have it. It is from Jenn Ski and in her Etsy shop she has one of these adorable prints for every letter of the Alphabet. I am going to order Piper’s initials for her nursery next. SOOO Cute!

Tiny Treasures!!

littlechic

I do not know why but there is something that makes everything more appealing to me in a small scale. I think it is one of the reasons I like many of the Japanese quilt designers so much. They tend to make quilts with intricate tiny designs that are just wonderful. I have millions of tiny little treasures, so I am going to start sharing some of them here. This is a primitive little chic that I just love. It sits above my computer as I work and watches over me.

New Magazines

I received two great new magazines today. If you are having fun in all of the blog worlds out there, Artful Blogging is a must have. They focus on beautiful blogs with art as their main inspiration, It comes out seasonally and this is the latest winter edition. I also spent a few hours with the new Interweave Knits Holiday Gifts edition. Besides the wonderful Berry Bobble hat on the cover, I want to make all of my loved ones the cable knit moccassins for the holidays. So wonderful!! What are some of your favorite magazines?

Style: Ceramic Egg Holders

I do not know much about these wonderful egg dishes except that I am obsessed with them and purchase them whenever I can find one. I purchased this red one today at Anthropologie. These are just two examples of the many that I hoard in my house and at the shop. They are so wonderful to display different tiny treasures. I love them for earrings and jewelry especially, and the blue one below keeps some of my change organized. Jeanette especially likes them for buttons.
