Piper’s Blessing Day

Okay! Okay! I have had phone calls, e-mails, comments all day demanding to see Piper’s Blessing pictures. Here you go, she is lovely, it was definitely worth the wait. Jeanette spent the last few weeks working on the dress and if you all bug her enough she might be able to come up with a pattern for sale. Piper’s father gave her a beautiful blessing followed by an Open House at her Nana & Papa’s house that was just wonderful.

Eileen Scarf

This is a a super easy to make scarf that is really classic for fall. It is a Rice stitch which is now my new favorite stitch (It used to be a seed stitch). I made this scarf with a baby alpaca yarn but any chunky yarn will work. The key is to make this very long so that you can wrap it around your neck and still have some length to it. I made mine about 90″ long. I named it after one of my favorite clothing lines, because it seemed like it would be the perfect acessory for her clothes.
Eileen Scarf Pattern:
You will need 2-3 skeins of a chunky yarn with a guage of 3 stitches per inch on #11 US needles.
Cast on 22 stitches.
Pattern:
Row 1: K1, P1 across.
Row 2: Knit across.
Repeat pattern until you have your desired length, then add fringe into every other stitch all the way around the scarf. You will need about 1/4 of a skein for the fringe.

New Books

We received a few great new books in the shop today!

Boutique knits is just wonderful. It is definitely worth buying the book for all of the vintage style accessories contained within. I HAVE to make the cloche on the cover.
Buy Boutique Knits

Amy Butler has done it again! This book is for the little ones and it is amazing. I had to wait for a 2nd shipment to scan this in because the 1st one sold out in the first hour it was in the shop.
Buy Little Stitches for Little Ones

And this book is not brand new but it is one of our all time best sellers. Every pattern in it is great and easy enough for a beginner to tackle. It is the book that contains the pattern for our Smocked Coat that is on display in the shop.

We are have a Fat Quarter Frenzy at the shop this weekend. Our fat quarter shelves are stuffed too tight and we need to make some room. All single already cut fats will be $1.50 each through Sunday.
Check out the fabulous new polka dots from Lucien. They have only been in the shop for a few days and many of them have already sold out.

Contest #2

So a while ago I posted a photo of my attempt at this darling needle felted pin cushion above. It is one of my very favorite things that I have made. So I am going to have another contest and the winner will receive a kit to make this pincushion! So I will randomly pick a winner from the comments on this post. Please let us know any tips or ideas that you have for needle felting. If you have not tried it yet (you need too), just let us know what you would want to make if had. I will pick the winner one week from today.

We have had a lot of popular fabrics at Piper’s , but the above might just be breaking records. So cute! It is from Art Gallery Fabrics which I already have been going on and on about because I love their fabrics so much. Well apparently, the feeling is mutual!

Pumpkins

I finally purchased pumpkins for Halloween today, but it was worth the wait. They are amazing, don’t you think? The one that looks black is a dark green winter squash, I just love it! I buy my pumpkins every year at an adorable heirloom garden shop down the street from us called Traces (sorry they do not have a website), but you should check them out. They are on 11th east and about 1400 South and well worth the visit.

Anyone have any good recipes for wintersquash? I need to make something wonderful with these after Halloween.

My projects for this weekend

So we just received a bunch of new Amy Butler patterns in today. So this weekend I am going to squeeze in some bags. Luckily we have the exact fabric for the birdie sling. I think I am going to add some of the new Japanese print for the stash & dash bags. After spending some more time with them, I am in love. There are some wonderful tiny prints. I think my very favorite out of all of them is the one below!

She’s Here!

Finally after waiting and waiting our new little namesake is here! Piper was born on Monday morning to much delight. She is just beautiful and perfect and I am sure you will be seeing and hearing much more about her from us from now on. She is Jeanette’s 1st grand child and she is ready to celebrate! So we have decided to have an Open House in honor of Piper’s arrival. Come in this weekend and visit and check out some of the new things we have been up to. Since this is a big event we will be having a big sale to celebrate. Everthing in the shop will be at least 20% off (the only exception is Fat Quarters). Lots of yarns and clearance items will be discounted 30% and more. Please stop by and say hello.

We received 4 giant boxes full of Lecien color basic & minny mui prints on Monday. They are fantastic!
