When it rains it pours!

Oh My!! I have just unfinished un-packing six giant boxes of the most wonderful fabrics ever! I feel like it is christmas on the last day of July. Tons of Heather Bailey’s two new lines and also a bunch of bolts from Anna Maria Horner. It is so exciting! These two women are the most amazing designers, and both have great blogs, but I am sure you already visit them frequently.

Art Gallery Fabrics

We received a ton of wonderful fabrics from Art Gallery today. The yellow one pictured above is my favorite. I am off to try and come up with something wonderful to make with it. I am thinking something very simple, I will have to start digging through the pattern stash. We also received some new wonderful yarns from Lorna’s Laces. They are so yummy and hand dyed.

This is the Swirl Chunky which is a wonderful combo of silk and wool. We also purchased a bit of sock yarn from them that is so beautiful.

Another Fabulous Apron!

I know, I am a little apron crazy. But I have to get going on this new pattern this weekend. We just got some wonderful new fabrics in from Art Gallery Quilts. They are going to perfect for this apron!!!

A Little Lady

Everyone is always coming into the shop and asking for Piper. Well there is no Piper at the shop.Piper’s is named for Grandma Piper (Ethel May Piper) who was Jeanette’s grandmother. An amazing lady, who she wanted to honor, by naming the store after her.

Well now there will be a new namesake for the shop. Shannon is bringing us the new Piper in the early fall. Finally some one will be sporting all of the amazing pink items Jeanette has been cranking out over the years.

I am sure little Piper will be folding fat quarters soon after learning to walk.

We found this darling baby shower invite from sparklepants on Etsy. I cannot even tell you how much I love Etsy! I am sure you have already been, but if not, go now. It is everything wonderful for gifts, home decor, baby items and so much more. Many of our customers and friends have Etsy shops. The best part about it is supporting small independent artists directly.

Mascot Part 2

We took this picture of our dog henry (pipers new mascot) and I could not resist showing all of you. It is very ironic because he looks like such an angel, yet he is bad to the bone. I came home today to find he pulled down the new scarf I was working on and completely unravelled it to a messy pile of yarn. He must be a super hero that he was able to pull it down from my desk, who knows, maybe he is. But he would definitely be the Villain.

More Aprons

It has been all about aprons this year! There are so many wonderful styles it is hard to choose from. It makes you want to slap one on, make dinner, clean up around the house and who knows, maybe even do some ironing (just kidding I do not Iron except for quilting). So this week I went to the farmers market and found some wonderful treats. One of my favorite finds were all of these great aprons by Victoria White & Company. She is a customer at pipers, so it was fun to see so much of her items made from our fabrics. There was so much to see at the market that I missed that I will have to go again. Too bad it will have to wait until next Saturday, because this weekend is a very big baby shower event. More on that later….

A Quilt for Quilters

I thought I should let everyone know that the sailboat baby quilt is done! yay! It is just darling and the kits are out as well as the pattern. Follow the links below to purchase or if you send me an e-mail with your e-mail included I will send you a paypal invoice/request. The kit is $59.99 with all fabrics for the top, borders on length of grain and pre-cut bias binding, as well as a pattern and Thangles. The pattern is $8.99 by itself, but I think our fabrics are super cute. The fabrics are all Moda , mostly from the Hamptons collection.
Here’s a blog special! Order it by e-mail and I will throw in free shipping!

I think this quilt is perfect for a little guy. And it seems that most of you who are pregnant out there are having a boy. It is crazy how it seems to be tipped one way or the other each year.

Baby Shower Gift

This is a great baby shower gift. Easy enough that you can work on it while watching movies by the air conditioner. This is my plan to beat the heat the next couple of days.

Checker Baby Blanket

You will need: 5 skeins or so skeins of your favorite aran weight baby yarn. Cotton is great for this and bamboo is even better!
Cast on 125 stitches
Row1-6: K5, P5 all across
Row 7-12: P5, K5 all across
Repeat these rows throughout.
You can add a garter stitch border if you like by Knitting the 1st 4 rows as well as adding 4 knit stitches at the beginning and end of each row. Also your last 4 rows will be knit before you bind off. Your cast on will be 133 if yuo add the garter stitch border.
Bind off at desired length.

Bee

Isn’t this stitchery so cute? We have been working like busy bees on the kits today, so I thought I would make it our photo today. Our friend Julie made it for the shop and we just love it!
